Glacier Ranked Fourth In First Poll

By Beacon Staff

Fresh off an exciting come-from-behind win in Great Falls last Friday, Glacier finds themselves ranked fourth in the first high school football poll of the season which was released today.

The Wolfpack (2-0) are off to their best start in the program’s history. They received 62 voting points, three less than third-place Billings West. The top poll ranking goes to Helena High (2-0), who comes to town on Friday and plays Glacier at Legends Stadium at 7 p.m. Helena Capital (2-0) is second.

On fourth and goal from the 1-yard line last Friday, junior running back Aaron Mitchell scored with five seconds remaining to give the Wolfpack a 31-24 victory over C.M. Russell (1-1).

The Wolfpack received the ball trailing 28-24 with roughly four minutes left and held on to defeat the Rustlers for the second year in a row.

Flathead received eight votes after picking up their first win of the season last Friday with an impressive 41-15 victory in their home opener against Missoula Big Sky.

The Braves (1-1) head to Great Falls on Friday for a 7:30 matchup with the Bison (1-1).

Eureka is ranked seventh in the Class B poll after the Lions edged Cut Bank 21-14 last Friday. The Lions head to the famed Rollin Field in Missoula on Friday for a game against Loyola Sacred Heart (the alma mater of two Flathead Beacon staff writers).
