Kalispell Hunter Found Safe

By Beacon Staff

Hours after the Flathead County Sheriff began an extensive search, a 34-year-old Kalispell hunter has been found.

Charles Larkey had gone hunting on Sunday morning and was reported missing after he didn’t return that evening. The sheriff’s office reported that he was picked up by a trucker early Monday afternoon and was soon reunited with family and searchers. Larkey’s truck was reportedly stuck near Ashley Mountain yesterday afternoon and he spent the night in the vehicle.

The search of the area northwest of Kalispell covered more than 300 square miles and extended west to Marion and north to Olney. Along with the sheriff’s office, Flathead County Search and Rescue, the U.S. Forest Service, Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks and Red Eagle Aviation all aided in the search.
