Movie Premiere Features Flathead Actor

By Beacon Staff

When the Beacon last chatted with Casey Brown, a local actor who has made a career for himself in Hollywood, he had just shot the Civil War drama, “Copperhead.”

This Friday and next Monday, the Flathead will have a chance to see this movie when it premieres in Whitefish and Bigfork. Proceeds from each showing will go toward supporting two of the theater companies that helped get Brown where he is today: The Alpine Kids! Theatre Project and the Bigfork Summer Playhouse.

“What arts education teaches children that they don’t get in regular curricula is the link between the imagined and the possible,” Brown wrote in a prepared statement. “Growing up with two of the nation’s best children’s theatres in my backyard taught me that I could do anything I wanted with my life.”

The film will be shown at the Mountain View Cinema in Whitefish on Friday, Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. to benefit AKTP, and at the Bigfork Center for the Performing Arts on Monday, Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. to benefit the Bigfork Summer Playhouse.

Brown arranged to have these screenings held in the Flathead not only to help raise awareness and funds for the two educational programs, but to show local theatre students that acting careers can happen if people are willing to work for them.

“I was in these programs just five years ago,” says Brown. “It’s all possible.”

Tickets to the movie are $20.

Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance by calling 406-862-7469 or visiting atpwhitefish.org. In Bigfork, tickets are available at the Bigfork Center for the Performing Arts, at the door or in advance by calling 406-837-4886.
