Ty Morgan scored in the final seconds and caught the ensuing 2-point conversion to lift Columbia Falls over Hamilton, 30-29, at home last week.
Morgan finished with three touchdowns and the Wildcats improved to 2-0.
Morgan opened the game with a 53-yard TD pass and Colton Grove returned an interception five yards to give Columbia Falls the 14-0 lead in the second quarter. Hamilton stormed back and scored three unanswered touchdowns, jumping ahead 21-14 in the third quarter. Morgan saved his final heroics for the final seconds, scoring a two-yard pass from quarterback Jared Trinastich as time ran out in the fourth quarter.
The Wildcats travel to Browning (1-1) on Friday.
Late TD Propels Glacier Past CMR
After lightning delayed action for nearly three hours, Logan Jones scored a 39-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to lead the Glacier Wolfpack past Great Falls C.M. Russell, 20-14.
The Class AA football game in Great Falls was delayed multiple times due to storm activity and play finally resumed just before 1 a.m. in the third quarter with the score tied 14-all.
Jones finished with five catches for 143 yards. Noah James rushed for 120 yards and two TDs and Glacier improved to 2-0. Wolfpack quarterback Brady McChesney finished 11 of 24 for 172 yards. Glacier’s defense held the Rustlers to 56 rushing yards and forced a fumble and interception.
Glacier travels to Bozeman this Friday for a showdown between two of the four remaining undefeated teams in Class AA. Both Helena teams are 2-0 along with Bozeman and Glacier.
Skyview Cruises Past Flathead
Billings Skyview’s rushing attack piled up nearly 500 yards and the Falcons rolled past Flathead 44-13 at Legends Stadium last week.
Alex Picicci ran for 208 yards, Riley Barta added 138 and Billings jumped ahead 38-0 before Flathead managed to score.
Maverick Escalante put the Braves on the scoreboard with an 18-yard TD catch from Easton Johnson and Anthony Holm rushed in from two yards for Flathead’s second TD.
Flathead (1-1) hosts Helena Capital this Friday at 7 p.m.
Balanced Attack Leads Whitefish Past Browning
Sean Foley scored on a 45-yard interception and returned a kickoff 72 yards for another TD and Whitefish handily defeated Browning 45-14 at home.
Foley’s defensive score gave the Bulldogs a first-quarter lead and Whitefish quarterback Luke May connected with AJ Wetsch for a 28-yard score in the second quarter, sending Whitefish into halftime leading 14-0.
Koler Kanistanaux score two TDs on the ground and May added a rushing TD to go along with 166 yards passing. Kicker Nathan Boone hit a 41-yard field goal in the third quarter. Foley capped the scoring with his special teams TD.
Whitefish (2-0) travels to Belgrade (1-1) on Saturday.
Bigfork Holds on to Beat Choteau
The Vikings opened the season with a 26-20 road victory against Choteau. The game was delayed due to lightning but Bigfork held on to secure its first win in the season opener.
