The facility is a “one-stop shop” for visitors to the area

Swan Mountain Outfitters held a grand opening for the Crown of the Continent Discovery Center in West Glacier on June 21.

The facility is a “one-stop shop” for visitors to the area, according to Aubrie Lorona, vice president of Swan Mountain Outfitters. The new discovery center is located at the old Rawhide Trading Post that closed last summer. Swan Mountain took ownership of the building last fall and has been working throughout the winter to rebrand the facility with a focus on sustainable geotourism.

The discovery center features horseback rides, the Glacier Coffee House, Bubba Luke’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream Parlor, the Swan Mountain Activity Booking Center, informational exhibits about the region and a unique gift shop. Lorona said the center is the only “brick and mortar” presence associated with National Geographic’s Crown of the Continent Project.
