Volunteers Clean Up North Fork Riverbanks

Montana Raft Company and Glacier Guides lead annual cleanup effort

By Beacon Staff

Montana Raft Company and Glacier Guides last weekend hosted their annual Rafting for Refuse, a volunteer river cleanup event. Since 1997, Montana Raft Company has helped clean the Middle Fork of the Flathead River, as well as its river access points.

“We are a company that relies on our environment, and we are committed to helping keep the river corridor clean for everyone,” says Marketing Director, Corrie Holloway. “We are happy to host this event every year, in hope that visitors can have a better experience on the river.”

Volunteers met at the company’s office to learn “Leave No Trace” principles, then shuttled to various river put-ins and rafted down those sections of river, picking up any trash along the way.

Glacier Guides and Montana Raft is a company that offers hiking, rafting, fishing and lodging in and around Glacier National Park. Founded in 1983, they have always been advocates of the outdoors, and take pride in being an environmentally responsible business.
