POLSON — A 77-year-old woman has died of injuries suffered when the pickup truck she was riding in went off U.S. Highway 93 south of Ronan and rolled end-over-end.

Lake County Undersheriff Dan Yonkin said the victim was Vivian Thompson of Missoula.

The Montana Highway Patrol says Thompson was a passenger in a pickup truck driven by her husband when it went off the right side of the road, struck an approach, went airborne for about 100 feet and then rolled end-over-end. Both were wearing seat belts.

Vivian Thompson was taken to the hospital in Ronan and later airlifted to the hospital in Kalispell, where she died. Raymond Thompson was airlifted to the Kalispell hospital and was expected to be released on Thursday.

Trooper Randy Owen says the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
