GREAT FALLS — University of Great Falls men’s basketball coach Steve Silsby has resigned after eight seasons to become the head coach at Chandler-Gilbert Community College in Arizona.

Silsby’s wife is from Arizona and he says the move means his four children will be living about 20 minutes from their grandparents.

Silsby’s teams posted an overall record of 103-138, including a 56-37 mark over the past three seasons. He was an assistant coach at Scottsdale Community College before coming to UGF as an assistant in 2005. He was named head coach in 2006.

UGF athletic director Gary Ehnes says he plans to move quickly to fill the job. He says recruiting connections in the Northwest will be an important factor as he looks to hire a new coach.
