The remarkable summer continues for Brandon McIver.

The Billings native shot his best round in three days on Saturday to win his second consecutive Montana State Men’s Amateur championship at Whitefish Lake Golf Club.

McIver carded a 5-under 67 and finished with a three-day total of 204. He shot 69 the first day and 68 the second.

Kalispell’s Ryan Porch finished tied for second, 73-68-71—212. Tom Swanson of Missoula carded 73-68-71—212.

Logan Lindholm of Kalispell earned seventh, 73-75-70—218 and Brad Grattan of Whitefish was tied for eighth, 75-74-70—219. Other locals finishing in the top 20 were Mark Mance of Whitefish (76-73-73—222) and Bigfork’s Ryan Keenan (74-73-78—225).

McIver, 20, will be a junior at the University of Oregon this fall. He competed at the U.S. Open earlier this summer. He won last year’s State Am tournament by eight strokes at Helena.

Porch, a former prep standout from Glacier High School, will be a sophomore at the University of Idaho in the fall.
