What We Did This Summer

If your summer didn’t turn out quite like you planned, how about creating a vision board?

By April Vomfell

Kids get to tell their “what I did this summer” stories, so why can’t adults? We may not spend all our time at camp or Grandma’s, but we’re people too!

So here are some “what I did this summer” stories from real (and imaginary) grownups.

“I got addicted to paddleboarding and spent every weekend at the lake, and never painted the garage like I planned.”

“The house was too hot and I was cranky, and the kids all got sunburned.”

“I grew gigantic cabbages and made heaps of sauerkraut.”

“We taught our 3-year-old how to hike, and now all she wants to do is pick huckleberries and splash in creeks. It’s adorable.”

“My family reunion was the highlight of my summer, and also the low point. My sister and my wife don’t get along, but the kids had fun and I got to fish with my favorite uncle. Now if only my wife would start speaking to me again! Just kidding. Mostly.”

“I broke my ankle and couldn’t go to effing Silverwood.”

If your summer didn’t turn out quite like you planned, how about creating a vision board? Whether you want to travel, get your finances in order, have kids, start a new career or get in shape, putting those things on a board will make them more concrete and achievable. Search online for vision board examples and instructions.

Along those lines, have you heard of the book “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne? It basically says that positive thinking will bring more good things into your life. There, I just told you the secret.
