Due to hazardous winter road conditions, the Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier National Park is currently closed at Rising Sun on the East Side and Avalanche Creek on the West Side. The situation will be reassessed Thursday to determine if road conditions have improved, park officials said.
The temperature along the upper sections of the road was reported at 23 degrees Wednesday evening, and included steady snow falling, with up to 5 inches on the road and an ice layer under the snow. There was very low visibility and windy conditions.
