Whitefish’s Schulz, Olson Claim Divisional Golf Trophies

The Whitefish junior shot a 5-over 77 and won by 11 strokes at last week’s divisional golf tournament

Coral Schulz claimed her first Northwestern A golf title and cruised into this week’s Class A state tournament with her sights on another trophy.

The Whitefish junior shot a 5-over 77 and won by 11 strokes at last week’s divisional golf tournament at Meadow Lake Golf Club in Columbia Falls.

Teammate Katie Fyall earned second after carding 88. Heather Frank of Polson was third with a 98.

The Whitefish girls won the team title, with 387 to runner-up Frenchtown’s 438.

On the boys side, Cody Olson shot a 78 to win the divisional title by one stroke. Teammate Mitch Young shot 79 and the Bulldogs claimed the team trophy with 344. Polson was second with 376.

Johnny Cielak of Libby tied for third with 82 alongside Carson McDaniel of Polson.

The Class A state tournament is Oct. 3-4 at Hamilton Golf Club.

The Class AA state tournament is Oct. 2-3 at Bridger Creek Golf Course in Bozeman.
