Prep Poll: Undefeated Glacier Stays Atop Class AA

Columbia Falls drops from Class A rankings while Bigfork holds onto No. 10 spot in Class B

The Glacier Wolfpack remain the top team in Class AA, according to the latest Associated Press high school football poll released Oct. 1.

The Wolfpack improved to 5-0 last Friday with a 55-29 win over Butte. Glacier is averaging 49.4 points per game, most in the state, and has outscored opponents 241-88.

Glacier travels to Missoula to play fifth-ranked Big Sky (3-2) on Friday night.

Helena (5-0) is still ranked second. The Bengals travel to Kalispell to play Flathead (2-3) on Friday night. Third-ranked Great Falls C.M. Russell (4-1) plays at fourth-ranked Billings Skyview (3-2) on Friday.

In Class A, previous No. 1 Columbia Falls dropped out of the top five after losing to rival Whitefish last weekend. Laurel (4-1) took over the top spot, followed by Billings Central (3-1) and Dillon (3-1), which received a first-place vote.

Columbia Falls has a bye week. The Wildcats are the top scoring team in the Northwestern A conference, averaging 38.8 ppg. The defense is limiting opponents to 11 ppg.

Whitefish (3-2 overall, 1-0 in conference) ranks second in scoring, averaging 29.8 ppg. The Bulldogs defense is holding opponents to 18.4 ppg.

Whitefish travels to Polson (2-3, 0-1) on Friday

In Class B, Bigfork (3-1) held its No. 10 ranking. The Vikings trounced Shelby 43-6 last Friday. Bigfork travels to Troy (2-2 overall, 1-0 in Western 7B) on Friday.
