Whitefish, Bigfork Boys Advance in State Soccer Playoffs

Bulldogs, Vikings advance to Class A boys state soccer semifinals

Casey Ling scored three goals in the second half, including a pair of unassisted scores in the final two minutes, to lift Whitefish over Hamilton 4-3 in the first round of the Class A boys soccer playoffs in Whitefish on Oct. 18.

Whitefish trailed 3-1 before Ling took over. He scored the game-winning goal off a corner kick in the 79th minute. Jared Johnson had Whitefish’s other goal, which he netted in the first half.

Whitefish (8-3-2 overall) advanced to the state semifinals and travels to Belgrade to take on the Panthers (12-1) at 11 a.m., Oct. 25. Belgrade defeated Stevensville 1-0 on Oct. 18.

Kyle Thompson scored a pair of unassisted goals to lead Bigfork to victory over Livingston, 2-1, on Oct. 18. The Vikings (7-4-1) advanced to the state semifinals against Corvallis (12-1). The game is in Corvallis at 1 p.m., Oct. 25. Corvallis eliminated Libby 4-2 on Oct. 18.
