Playoffs up next for Class B, A teams; Glacier, Flathead to collide in crosstown game

Bigfork 48, Thompson Falls 0

The fifth-ranked Vikings claimed their sixth straight District 7B title after a dominating victory at home to wrap up the regular season.

Vinny Quirk scored two touchdowns, Josh Sandry rushed in a score and passed for another and Isaac Martel added another pair of TDs for Bigfork. Logan Mejak also returned an interception for a score.

Bigfork (7-1 overall, 4-0 in conference) hosts Deer Lodge (7-2, 3-1 in District 6B) at 1 p.m., Saturday in the opening round of the Class B playoffs.

Eureka (3-6, 2-2) travels to Glasgow for the opening round.

Whitefish 45, Libby 0

The Bulldogs capped their perfect conference schedule with a big victory and added momentum into the Class A playoffs.

Quarterback Luke May combined for four touchdowns, Haley Nicholson was six-for-six in extra point attempts and added a 32-yard field goal and the Bulldogs defense held the Loggers to 49 yards rushing and 76 yards passing.

Whitefish (7-2 overall, 4-0 in Northwestern A) has a first-round bye in the playoffs, which kick off this weekend. The Bulldogs will host the winner of Miles City and Havre the following weekend.

Columbia Falls 43, Polson 6

Ike Schweikert scored a pair of touchdowns and quarterback Dakota Bridwell passed for another pair as the Wildcats wrapped up the regular season with a big win.

The Wildcats (7-2, 4-0) host Hamilton (6-3, 3-2) at 2 p.m., Saturday in the first round of the Class A playoffs.

Glacier 58, Great Falls 0

Thomas Trefney scored three touchdowns, Logan Jones added another two and the top-ranked Wolfpack improved to 9-0 with its most dominating win of the season.

Glacier plays Flathead (3-6) this Friday at 7 p.m. inside Legends Stadium to wrap up the regular season. The Wolfpack will try to cap the team’s first undefeated season and secure the top seed in the Class AA playoffs. Missoula Sentinel defeated Flathead 28-14 last Friday.
