Two men are dead following a three-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 93 near Somers on Thursday morning.

Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Rick Mehring says a 61-year-old Kalispell man and 73-year-old Somers man died after an accident early Thursday south of Somers.

The names of the victims have not been released.

U.S. Highway 93 near mile marker 101 south of Somers was closed until roughly 1 p.m. as emergency officials cleared the site.

According to Mehring, a northbound pickup truck hit the right-side guardrail and then went into the opposite lane, hitting two southbound vehicles, sending one into the ditch. The driver of the northbound truck and the driver of one of the southbound vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene. The third driver escaped the accident unharmed.

Mehring said another driver reported that the northbound truck had been swerving all over the road right before the accident but it is too early to know if drugs or alcohol were involved. The crash remains under investigation.
