GREAT FALLS — A 20-year-old Poplar man is charged with driving drunk on the partially frozen Missouri River and causing a 15-year-old girl to drown when the pickup truck fell through the ice.

The Great Falls Tribune reports Wyatt Cameron Montclair was arrested by Fort Peck Tribal Police on Dec. 17. He faces charges of manslaughter and driving under the influence after tests indicated his blood-alcohol level was 0.197, more than twice the limit of 0.08 at which a person is considered legally intoxicated.

Tribal investigators say Montclair drove his pickup about three-quarters of a mile on the ice before it fell into the water. He and three juvenile passengers were able to make it to shore, but the girl was swept away by the current. Her body has not been found.
