Bigfork Teams Sweep Openers at Western B Divisionals

Bigfork boys, girls advance to semifinals at Western B divisional tourneys

The Bigfork basketball teams picked up a pair of victories in the opening rounds of the Western B divisional tournaments in Kalispell.

The Bigfork boys cruised past Ronan 85-60 on Thursday morning, advancing to Friday’s semifinal round. The Vikings (20-1) will play Florence (14-7) at 4 p.m., Friday at Flathead High School.

Isaac Martel scored a game-high 21 points, Josh Sandry had 16 and the Vikes led 45-30 at halftime. Ryder Trent added 11 points and Adam Jordt had 10.

Florence edged Eureka 53-46 on Thursday. Eureka’s Trey Bohne scored a game-high 24 points and Chase Bohne had 15 points.

In other first-round action on Thursday, Missoula Loyola (17-3) plays Plains (8-13) and Deer Lodge (11-9) takes on Thompson Falls (14-6).

The divisional championship game is at 8:45 p.m., Saturday.

The top two teams advance to the Class B state tournament March 12-14 in Great Falls.

GIRLS

The Bigfork girls defeated Florence 68-48 at Flathead High School on Wednesday. Miranda Campbell scored a game-high 16 points, Riley Coleman and Jamie Berg each scored 11 and Lana Berg added 10 for Bigfork.

The Vals (17-4) play Loyola (14-7) Thursday at 9:15 p.m. in the semifinals.

Loyola defeated Thompson Falls 49-44 on Wednesday. Eight different scorers chipped in for the Breakers.

Ronan defeated Troy in Wednesday’s first round, 57-45. Alicia Camel scored a game-high 24 points, Kendra Starkel added 14 and Ronan (17-4) advanced to the semifinals on Thursday against Plains (17-4) at 7:30 p.m.

Plains defeated Deer Lodge 50-33 in the first round on Wednesday. Kayla Holmes paced Plains with 15 points and Hailey Phillips had 13.

Deer Lodge eliminated Troy 47-28 in loser-out action on Thursday and Thompson Falls dropped Florence 60-47.

The divisional championship game is 9:15 p.m., Friday.

The top two teams at the divisional advance to the Class B state tournament March 12-14 in Great Falls.
