Immanuel Lutheran Communities has named geriatrician, Dr. Linda Hitchcock, as its new medical director, effective April 1. She also will serve as primary-care physician for residents and guests of Immanuel Skilled Care Center and the Retreat at Buffalo Hill.

Hitchcock has extensive experience in caring for older adults with board certifications in geriatrics, palliative care and hospice. She is medical director of North Valley Geriatric Specialty Services, a division of North Valley Hospital in Whitefish. She also is regional medical director of Frontier Hospice in Kalispell and is a member of the American Association of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She is board-certified in family practice and hospice and palliative care as well as geriatric medicine.

“We look forward to expanding the care of seniors that we support in the Flathead Valley to now include the residents at Immanuel Lutheran Communities,” Hitchcock said. “This allows us to continue to work to enhance the quality of life and to promote successful aging within the continuum of care for our seniors.”

Hitchcock succeeds Dr. Doug Nelson, Immanuel Lutheran medical director for five years. He and his practice, Family Health Care, have provided primary care to Immanuel residents and guests for nearly 25 years.

“We are delighted that Dr. Hitchcock is joining Immanuel Lutheran Communities. With a proven history of geriatric excellence, she brings with her a wealth of expertise in caring for residents of continuing care retirement communities,” said Immanuel CEO Jason Cronk.  “We believe she will continue the legacy of quality care provided for so many years by Dr. Nelson and his colleagues.”
