MISSOULA — A Frenchtown man has been jailed on $100,000 bond after he was accused of kicking a police officer in the face during a struggle on Wednesday.

The Missoulian reports a judge rejected a request from Charles Ament to dismiss the case on Thursday.

He’s charged with felony escape or assault on a peace officer on suspicion of knowingly causing bodily injury to Nathan Mattix of the Missoula Police Department.

According to charging papers, Ament showed up at a counseling service at a group anger management meeting, but was told to leave because he was acting strange.

The kick knocked Mattix’s glasses off and he lost control of Ament.
