Broncos to Start Osweiler Against Patriots on Sunday Night

Kalispell quarterback to take on Tom Brady in nationally televised Sunday Night Football matchup

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Peyton Manning flew to Charlotte, North Carolina, on Monday for a second opinion on his left foot and Broncos coach Gary Kubiak announced Brock Osweiler would get his second straight start this week.

Manning is dealing with a torn plantar fascia, which prevents him from stepping into his throws. Kubiak said he’s not necessarily worried that Manning would need surgery or that his season is over.

The Broncos (8-2) host Tom Brady and the New England Patriots on Sunday. The Patriots (9-0) host the Buffalo Bills on Monday night.

Osweiler won his first NFL start Sunday, throwing for 250 yards and two TDs with no interceptions in Denver’s 17-15 win at Chicago. Osweiler got sacked five times, but he kept his poise against an aggressive defense. It all added up to a neat birthday for a backup who turned 25 on Sunday.

It was the first turnover-free game of the season for Denver.

Kubiak announced Monday morning that the Kalispell quarterback would get the start.
