State Hoops: Bigfork, Columbia Falls Advance to Championship Games

Local basketball teams advance to state championship games on Saturday night

Bigfork and Columbia Falls are vying for basketball state championships on Saturday night.

The Bigfork Vikings defeated Sweet Grass 63-51 on Friday night in the semifinal round of the Class B state tournament in Butte.

Bigfork plays Choteau in the title game at 8:30 p.m. The Vikes are seeking their second title in three years, following the 2014 championship.

At the Class A state tournament in Belgrade, the Columbia Falls Wildkats defeated Browning 42-39 in the semifinals and advance to the title game. The Wildkats will play Butte Central at 8 p.m., Saturday night.

Columbia Falls is seeking its first girls basketball championship since 1983.
