The June 7 Montana primary is approaching. This campaign cycle it has become clear for the first time in decades the delegate process nationwide, just as things are in Washington, D.C., is crooked. Mr. Donald J. Trump has given this country not only exposure to the corrupt system, but he has also shown us how vigorously the insiders and establishment of the corruption inside the Republican Party will fight to keep things in their control for both power and personal gain.
There are several points to make for Trump that highlight the success our country could have under a Trump presidency. First off, and what I see as most significant: The accountability with all our trade partners across the globe to play by the rules, both in trade deficits as well as currency manipulation. Many folks can agree, for decades now we have been faced with a looming need for welfare and other program reforms, such as Social Security and Medicaid. One thing I feel we overlook in this bipartisan debate, under President Trump and an economically strong U.S. economy, we would not even have to have a discussion on these failing issues.
When you bring back manufacturing, bring back millions of good- to higher-paying jobs, the economic growth will make the country and its people stronger and more will participate in the workforce due to better incomes. When you have an economy that has robust economic growth of 4 to 6 percent GDP, we no longer have to change, reduce or cut any of the current programs. We have seen over the years the two parties cannot resolve cutting these programs. The only solution is to improve growth in a substantial way.
The country must close its border with Mexico if it wants to remain safe and if we want to combat the drug problem. We talk about the drug problems and yet we act as if it is a local issue. The bulk of the drugs are coming in from our southern border. Illegal immigration will continue and the risks that come with that for both our families as well as our jobs are too significant.
And, finally, corruption. Donald J. Trump has shown us exactly how rigged and corrupt the D.C cartel is. Every election we see samples of how the government and the politicians are not working for “We The People.” They are more interested in the good ol’ boy system and personal, financial gain. We must make a change. We gave Sen. Ted Cruz and the House the majority back in the fall, and they have simply squandered it all. We allowed the Speaker of the House Paul Ryan to dictate his hours and entire lists of personal demands to be our speaker. It is time to end the corruption. For Cruz, he has put on sheep clothing and wooed us.
Cruz crossed the line when he chose to accept contributions from both George Soros as well as the big banks, including Goldman Sachs where his own wife is employed. It is time for Montana to stand strong, demand change. When we see these corrupt politicians, whether on a federal or a state level, not doing what we voted them to do, they must be removed. Here in Montana, we must remove any politician or city, county, or state elected official that does not do as they said they would do for our people.
