The walk will be held on Wednesday, June 1

The Whitefish High School Student Council is gearing up for the third Annual Walk for Life to benefit the Nate Chute Foundation. The event raises awareness for suicide prevention and hopes to reduce the stigma against suicide.

“We started the Walk For Life to save a life,” WHS Junior and event organizer Julia Houston said. “Suicide is a prominent issue that needs to be paid attention to and talked about. Our goal with the Walk For Life is to educate the community on suicide prevention, and create a comfortable and safe environment.”

In addition to benefitting the Nate Chute Foundation, students have also selected the Tamarack Grief Resource Center to receive a portion of proceeds.

The walk will be held on Wednesday, June 1 from 6-9 p.m. at the WHS track with live music, face painting, food and prizes. Registration forms can be picked up and dropped off at Whitefish High School and Whitefish Middle School. Participants can register as individuals or teams. For more information, call the WHS office at 862-8600.
