The Montana Highway Patrol identified the woman killed in a car crash on Montana Highway 37 earlier this week as 24-year-old Christina Benefield of Libby.
Benefield was not wearing a seat belt when the vehicle she was in collided with a guardrail and overturned into a wooded area off the roadway near the Libby Dam on July 12. Patrick Wood, 25, also of Libby, was driving at the time of the accident. Wood was not seriously injured in the accident.
Law enforcement is looking into the possibility that alcohol was involved in the crash and criminal charges will be considered following the investigation.
