BILLINGS — A Montana man is accused of fatally shooting a 63-year-old construction worker at a job site near Sidney.
Raymond Blair Hansen of Sidney was charged Thursday with deliberate homicide in the death of Terry Klein.
The 35-year-old suspect was arraigned in Richland County Justice Court, where Judge Gregory Mohr set a $2 million bond.
Mohr said Friday that Hansen initially did not want an attorney, but later changed his mind and would be appointed a public defender.
Richland County Sheriff John Dynneson says Klein was working for Franz Construction on a breached irrigation canal at the time of the Wednesday morning shooting.
He suffered at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hansen was arrested less than two hours later. Authorities were investigating a possible motive.
