Football Roundup: Glacier Rallies from 17-Point Deficit to Stay Undefeated

Columbia Falls, Bigfork keep rolling, improve to 4-0

Glacier 31, Great Falls 28

Jackson Pepe scored a pair of late touchdowns as the Wolfpack rallied back from a 17-point deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat the Bison in an exciting homecoming victory.

Glacier trailed 20-3 midway through the fourth quarter when the Pack erupted for 28 straight points. Scout Willcut sparked the comeback with a 27-yard touchdown catch from Brady Peiffer with 6:30 left. Pepe followed with a 36-yard punt return for a touchdown, and then Patrick O’Connell caught a 10-yard TD catch from Peiffer. Pepe added a 49-yard interception return that gave Glacier the 31-20 lead. Great Falls scored a quick TD with 38 seconds remaining but were unable to find the end zone again as Glacier capped the win on homecoming night. Starting quarterback Tadan Gilman left the game after suffering a big hit. He was 6 for 16 for 83 yards and two interceptions.

Cole Crosby rushed 23 times for 111 yards. Peiffer finished 3-of-5 for 50 yards passing. Willcut caught three passes for 57 yards and Andrew Durado had two catches for 28 yards.

Glacier (4-0) is off this week because of the forfeit by Missoula Hellgate and then travels to Missoula on Friday, Sept. 30 to play Sentinel (2-2).

Columbia Falls 56, Browning 0

Dakota Bridwell passed for six touchdowns, including three to Braxton Reiten, as the Wildcats improved to 4-0 with a big win on the road.

Bridwell completed 13 of 18 passes for 274 yards. His second six-touchdown performance hiked his season total to 23 in four games. Reiten finished fir six catches for 144 yards. Logan Kolodejchuk rushed for two touchdowns and converted a two-point conversion. Trey Gates caught a 37-yard TD, Trevor Hoerner had a 20-yard TD catch and Austin Green added another 20-yard TD catch. Seth Gossett had 13 carries for 81 yards.

Columbia Falls (4-0) is off this week and then hosts Dillon on Sept. 30.

Bigfork 41, St. Ignatius 0

Matt Farrier and Logan Taylor each had two touchdowns, and Augie Emslie connected on four scores as the Vikings improved to 4-0.

Emslie passed to Farrier for a 64-yard TD in the first quarter and Bigfork rolled from there. Farrier added a 29-yard TD run in the second, Anders Epperly caught a 25-yard scoring pass and Logan Taylor added a 23-yard score. Randy Stultz scored on a 55-yard dash in the third and Taylor added his second TD of the game, a 53-yard catch.

Bigfork (4-0) hosts Thompson Falls (1-2) on Friday for homecoming. Kickoff is 7 p.m.

Whitefish 20, Stevensville 0

Tyler Cote rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown as the Bulldogs picked up a win on the road over the Yellowjackets.

Cote rushed 17 times for 109 yards, including a 15-yard score in the first quarter. Quarterback Derek Kastella connected with Brady Staves on a 22-yard TD in the first and Parker McWhirter returned an interception 20 yards for a score.

Kastella finished nine of 12 for 70 yards. Sawyer Silliker had seven catches for 55 yards. The Whitefish defense limited Stevensville to 171 total yards of offense.

It’s homecoming week in Whitefish and the Bulldogs (2-2) host Corvallis (1-2) on Friday. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

Missoula Big Sky 41, Flathead 12

Levi Janacaro overwhelmed the Braves and led the Eagles to victory.

Janacaro had 239 yards rushing and five touchdowns to lead Big Sky.

Flathead’s Seth Adolph had 116 yards rushing on 13 carries and a touchdown. Bobby Lowry had 71 yards on three carries and scored Flathead’s other TD. James Flannigan had four catches for 30 yards and John Hinchey had two catches for 20 yards. Quarterback Bridger Johnson finished nine of 19 for 74 yards and three interceptions.

It’s homecoming week at Flathead and the Braves (1-3) host Bozeman (2-1) on Friday night. Kickoff is 7 p.m.

Dillon 38, Polson 6

A well-balanced attack by the Beavers upended the Pirates.

Six different players scored for Dillon while the defense limited Polson to one score late in the fourth quarter. Cadis Chowning caught a 40-yard TD pass from Tanner Wilson.

Polson (2-1) travels to Frenchtown (1-3) on Friday for a Northwestern A matchup.
