Whitefish Review will host author Jon Turk for a reading and slideshow from his latest book, “Crocodiles and Ice” on Oct. 15 at Casey’s in Whitefish. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the reading and slideshow will begin at 7:30 p.m. A $10 suggested donation is requested.

“Crocodiles and Ice” is a scientist/adventurer’s journey into a consciousness revolution based on a deep, reciprocal communication with the Earth. The book highlights Jon’s award-winning polar expedition circumnavigating Ellesmere Island, as well as other, lesser-known passages. But, more critically, Turk tells the story of his lifelong journey from suburban Connecticut into a passion for deep wild places.

Turk’s circumnavigation of Ellesmere with Erik Boomer was nominated in 2012 by National Geographic as one of the world’s “Top Ten Adventures of the Year” and was also awarded “Expedition of the Year” by Canoe and Kayak Magazine.
