MISSOULA — Montana walk-on receiver and return man Jerry Louie-McGee is one of 23 finalists for the FCS freshman of the year award.

The redshirt freshman from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho set team records with 21 catches in Montana’s game at Cal Poly and with his average of an average of 8.9 catches per game.

Louie-McGee was 10 catches shy of breaking Joe Douglass’ school record of 82 pass receptions in a season, despite missing three games.

The highlights of his season include an 81-yard punt return for a touchdown against Northern Iowa and 275 all-purpose yards against Cal Poly.

The Jerry Rice Award, given by STATS, will be announced at the national awards banquet on Jan. 6, the night before the national title game in Frisco, Texas.
