A 23-year-old Kalispell woman has denied allegations that she stole more than $33,000 from her employer earlier this year.

Candice Annmarie Aston pleaded not guilty to charges of felony theft and deceptive practices on Nov. 23 before Flathead County District Court Judge Robert Allison. She will stand trial next year.

According to court documents, the owner of a Kalispell insulation business came to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office in September with information that Aston had admitted to writing checks to herself from the company’s account totaling $33,387.69.

A few days later, the owner returned with more information showing that Aston had also put more than $9,000 worth of charges on a company credit card.

During an interview with law enforcement on Sept. 29, Aston allegedly admitted to writing company checks to herself and using the business’ credit card.

If convicted, Aston could face up to 20 years in prison and a $100,000 fine.
