Maggie Voisin landed on the podium in the first event of the 2016-17 competitive ski season.

The 17-year-old Whitefish native finished third in the women’s slopestyle jump finals at the Dew Tour competition in Breckenridge, Colorado on Friday.

In four runs, Voisin’s two best scores totaled 68.99 points, only one point shy of second place finisher Kaya Turski, who tallied 69.66. Kelly Sidaru won with a score of 86.33. Click here to watch a video of the competition.

Voisin will compete in Saturday’s slopestyle jib final starting at 12:30 p.m.

Friday’s competition marked the beginning of the competition season. Voisin, who earned a spot on the 2014 Olympic team, is back as one of the stars of the sport. She recently caught up with Kade Krichko with the Dew Tour to talk about her preparation for the season as well as her comeback from injuries in recent years.

Voisin has a busy winter ahead of her. She was invited to compete in the X Games at the end of January. Last year she placed fourth in the slopestyle competition and in 2014 she earned a silver medal.
