FireSafe Flathead Meeting on March 31

Group wants to start conversation about wildfires early before spring warming

By Tristan Scott

The state Department of Natural Resources and Conservation will host a FireSafe Flathead meeting on March 31 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Comprised of foresters, fire managers, and proactive residents of local communities located in the Wildland Urban Interface, the FireSafe Flathead group wants to start the conversation about wildfires early, because firefighters will soon be responding to spring grassfires.

This would the perfect opportunity to get to know people living and working with wildfire, to learn what prescribed fires are planned for the Flathead National Forest this spring and the process of updating the Flathead County Community Wildfire Preparedness Plan, to tour a local fuels project with us in the afternoon, and find out more about the “Era of Megafires” presentation being hosted at Flathead Community College on Tuesday, April 25.
