Pine Grove Pond Fishing Access Site is opening April 8 for the summer fishing season. One of the most popular public fishing sites in town, Pine Grove is located off Rose Crossing north of Kalispell and is ideal for families looking to work on the basics of angling while also landing a few memorable lunkers.

In 2009, the Street family donated the site to the state department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks. In 2016, Robin Street donated another 5 acres to expand the site to over 28 acres.

For 2017, there are several improvements to the pond. State officials have installed two new fishing piers. The Bill Kamps Hooked on Fishing Fund paid for these additions. These platforms are built to American Disabilities Act standards so all can enjoy. There are now three fishing piers and one floating dock on the pond. The new fishing piers will be dedicated during a Hooked on Fishing event scheduled for May 25.

On opening day, Flathead Wildlife, Inc. is teaming up with Moving Forward Adaptive Sports to include fishing in their line of activities. Flathead Wildlife, Sather, and Sportsman and Ski Haus are helping Moving Forward obtain adaptive fishing equipment. Flathead Wildlife will also be providing free hot dogs to hungry anglers at lunch time. Some loaner rods will be available and Flathead Wildlife and Walleyes Unlimited members will be available for help with fishing.

Fishing regulations allow children 14 years of age or younger to keep one fish per day while all older anglers can catch and release fish.
