Bigfork Girls Win State Track Title in Dominating Fashion

Haile Norred and Bryn Morley won multiple individual championships

The Bigfork girls track team dominated at the Class B state track meet in Butte and won the program’s first championship in 25 years.

Haile Norred and Bryn Morley won multiple individual championships to help the Vals tally 109 points and win the state title, the first since 1992. Baker was second with 53 points.

Norred won the 400 (57.95), 200 (26.02) and placed second in the 100.

Bryn Morley swept the distance races, winning the 800 (2:15), 1,600 (5:03.50) and the 3,200 (11:06.08). She also placed sixth in the 400.

Anya Young placed second in the 3,200, third in the 1,600 and fourth in the 800.

Gabby Eaton earned second in the pole vault.

The long relay — Morley, Norred, Jordan Nelson and Shae Anderson — won the championship in 4:03.36.

The short relay team — Norred, Anderson, Nelson, and Madison Gardner — placed second.

Nelson placed fourth in the 200.

Gardner placed sixth in the 100 hurdles.

The Libby long relay team — Emma Gruber, Sidney Stevenson, Emily Mossburg and Lauren Thorstenson — placed third.

On the boys side, Fairfield won the team championship.

Bigfork’s Matt Farrier placed second in the 300 hurdles. Teammate Logan Taylor placed fourth in the high jump.

Libby’s Gavin Strom placed sixth in the high jump.
