A Browning man has denied allegations that he sexually assaulted a minor and distributed drugs.

Bengamin Ray Yellow Owl, 25, has been charged in federal court with aggravated sexual abuse, sexual abuse of a minor and distribution of a controlled substance to a person under 21. Yellow Owl appeared before U.S. Magistrate John Johnston in Great Falls on May 23.

If convicted of the most serious charges, Yellow Owl could be sentenced to life in prison and forced to pay a $2 million fine.

According to court records, between June 2016 and January 2017, Yellow Owl sexually assaulted a 12-year-old child on multiple occasions in Browning. In January, Yellow Owl allegedly provided the minor with a substance later confirmed to be methamphetamine.

Yellow Owl is expected to stand trial later this year.
