HAMILTON — A Montana man has been sentenced to five years in the custody of the Department of Corrections for kidnapping and assaulting his estranged wife in February 2016.

Sherri Frost testified during Friday’s sentencing hearing that she feared Kevin Frost was going to kill her after he forced her into his car, threatened her with a stun gun and took her to a friend’s barn, where he forced her to drink alcohol.

He eventually dropped her off at the hospital and surrendered at the Ravalli County sheriff’s office.

Marilyn Frost testified that she believed her son reached a breaking point due to his failing marriage and his father’s recent death.

The Ravalli Republic reports the 50-year-old Corvallis man was sentenced to 30 years with the department with 25 suspended. The department will decide where he will serve his time.
