Kalispell and the surrounding area experienced a widespread outage of Charter services Friday morning, including Internet, video and phone services.
Business from Whitefish to Kalispell were unable to accept debit and credit cards on Friday morning due to the outage, which was detected around 9:30 a.m. Services were restored around 12:30 p.m.
Details behind the outage are not yet available, but an update will be provided when more information is released.
Engineering teams responded to the issue to get it resolved, according to Bret Picciolo, Charter’s regional communications representative.
“Damage to a third party carrier’s fiber-optic network is impacting service for customers in Kalispell and the surrounding area,” Picciolo said in an emailed statement. “Our engineering team has engaged that carrier and is working to repair the damage and restore service as quickly as possible.”
