Weekend Chip-Seal Construction Planned for Highway 82

Lane closures and speed limits of 35 mph expected

Knife River Construction will begin a chip-sealing project on Highway 82, between Somers and Highway 35, on Friday, which is expected to take two days to complete.

Weather permitting, the project will begin June 23 and take all weekend. Following chip sealing, crews will also sweep, apply sealant, and apply temporary striping on June 24.

The project will take place between mile markers 1.4 and 6.8.

Motorists should expect traffic delays on this popular thoroughfare, with pilot cars, lane closures, and 35 mph speed limits during the projects. Travelers are advised to plan accordingly, the state Department of Transportation said.

Roadway preservation plays a crucial role in maintaining safe roadways and travel throughout Montana. MDT asks that motorists practice patience when approaching construction zones and watch for changing conditions. MDT is dedicated to expediting this project and apologizes for any inconvenience it may cause,” the department said.
