Whitefish’s Luke May is transferring from the University of Minnesota, where he threw javelin, to Montana State University, where he plans to play football.

Multiple media outlets reported May’s decision to depart the Golden Gophers’ track squad and return to football. May, a sophomore, will report to the MSU Bobcats camp in early August.

May, a three-time Class A state champion javelin thrower in high school, was also a standout football player. The 2016 graduate quarterbacked Whitefish to a state championship in 2015. He finished his senior season with 1,673 passing yards, 831 rushing yards and 38 combined touchdowns.
