Former Class AA state champion Teigan Avery shot 77 or better in three straight rounds to finish tied for 14th at the Portland State/Eastern Washington Invitational at the Ocotillo Golf Resort in Chandler, Arizona late last month.

Avery, a sophomore at the University of Montana, helped the Griz surge on the final day into a fourth-place finish as a team. The 2016 Glacier High School grad has fired five straight rounds in the 70s this spring after posting an average score of 81 during the fall portion of the schedule. She was an Academic All-Big Sky Conference pick last season as a freshman.

Avery won the Class AA state golf championship as a sophomore and junior, and finished as the runner up as a freshman and senior. She won the 100th annual Montana State Women’s Amateur Golf Tournament in 2017.
