The 10th annual Flathead Valley Shootout returns to Lost Creek Raceway in Anaconda on Aug. 18 and organizers are expecting a record cash prize pool to be on the line.
Races will be held in the street car and racecar divisions in a bracket-style competition, with prizes expected to be paid out to the top several finishers in each class. Race organizer Peggy Hays said that more than $6,000 has been raised from local sponsors already for this year’s races. The weekend begins on Friday, Aug. 17, with a high school competition and head’s up grudge matches between rivals in the garage. The Flathead Valley Shootout is Saturday, with a pancake breakfast that morning and dinner after the races.
Interested drivers and their vehicles can enter for $50, with re-buys available for drivers who suffer early losses. The registration fee includes a t-shirt, free camping and the race-night dinner. Drivers must be from Flathead, Lincoln or Lake County in order to compete.
