BILLINGS — More former high school students are joining a lawsuit accusing an athletic trainer of sexual abuse and an eastern Montana school district of failing to protect them.

The Billings Gazette reports there are now 31 plaintiffs in the lawsuit against former trainer James “Doc” Jensen and the Custer County School District.

The lawsuit accuses the 78-year-old Jensen of performing nude massages and sexual acts on boys from the 1970s through the 1990s.

Jensen has denied some allegations. He was arrested last week on charges of possessing child pornography.

The new court filings include a December 1997 memo that says the district received complaints involving three student athletes. District leaders told Jensen that his training activities must be supervised and that he is barred from having students at his house without another adult present.
