Wrestling: Glacier, C-Falls grapplers shine in Great Falls

Flathead earns seventh-place team finish at Tri-State tourney in Coeur d'Alene

Glacier’s Tre Krause and Colby Martin both earned top five finishes at the Great Falls C.M. Russell Holiday Wrestling Classic, Dec. 14-15.

Krause, a heavyweight, beat Bozeman’s Tom Walkup in the third-place match at the tournament that featured wrestlers from more than 25 schools from around the state. Martin, at 205 pounds, pinned Columbia Falls grappler Jakob Freeman in his fifth-place match. Colten McPhee, also of Columbia Falls, won his fifth-place contest at 182 pounds, pinning Missoula Big Sky’s Mason Corcoran.

Flathead Battles at Tri-State Tournament

Three Flathead wrestlers finished sixth at the prestigious Tri-State Wrestling Tournament, Dec. 13-14 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Cole Eastwood (106), Zabyn Stewart (160) and Tanner Russell (170) all came up short in fifth-place matches, while Fin Nadeau finished the weekend with a win in a seventh-place match at 132 pounds. The Braves finished eighth as a team.

Elsewhere at the tournament, Polson’s Bridger Wenzel claimed fourth place at 152 and his teammate, Rene Pierre, was seventh at 106.
