HELENA — Authorities say one person and a dog were found dead in a truck that was submerged in the Missouri River in western Montana.

The Helena Independent Record reports residents upstream from the Craig boat launch found the pickup Monday morning, and investigators determined it had been driven between two houses and into the river sometime the previous night.

Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton says the cause and manner of death can’t be determined until an autopsy is completed at the Missoula Crime Lab. Investigators have not released any information about the victim.
