Projected lives saved per year on Montana roadways if a primary seat
belt law were enacted, according to a study by the Montana Highway Patrol. An interim legislative committee on Sept. 7 voted 7-5 to a draft a bill to create a primary seat belt law, meaning that a person could be pulled over just for not being buckled up.
“We’re obviously disappointed that we
are being listed (a Superfund site). We
thought there were other alternatives to
listing that we discussed with the EPA.”

Montana’s ranking in terms of quality of its health care, according to TH a study released last week that looked at medical care and costs in all
50 states and the District of Columbia. The average monthly insurance premium in Montana is $259, making it the 14th best, the report stated. In other categories, Montana ranked 12th for health care access and 25th for health care outcomes and 40th for health care costs.
