Weekend: Perfect Cuts, Sequestration Bill Dead, Drunk Rambo

By Beacon Staff

Good morning and happy birthday John Madden.

On the Beacon today, Bob Spoklie intends to expand his West Glacier gravel pit from two to 24 acres and though public outcry is likely, there may be little anyone can do to stop it. Daniel L. Miller, accused of running a red light and causing a fatal crash, has been charged with negligent homicide. Eighteen-year-old Joseph W. Goetsch pleaded not guilty in the severe beating of another teen outside Whitefish High School. And Perfect Cuts butcher shop in Columbia Falls has been slicing up local choice meats for eight years, and is only getting bigger and better.

Republicans in the Legislature are furious and blaming Democrats for killing a bill to build a framework for carbon sequestration and clean coal development. Senate Republicans have emerged with a significantly pared down state budget. And the GOP has aired four people to serve on the redistricting committee and would like to hear public comment on those folks.

And finally, a drunk Minnesota man was arrested after he decided to “play Rambo” to impress a girl and started firing arrows at his neighbors’ homes with a high-powered bow. Have a great weekend.
