Bucks Confirmed as Revenue Director Again

By Beacon Staff

HELENA – The Montana Senate by a wide margin Thursday confirmed Dan Bucks as director of the state Revenue Department for another four years.

The Senate voted 43-6 to confirm Bucks again.

He has headed the state tax agency since 2005 after 17 years as executive director of the Multistate Tax Commission, a national group that advises state and local governments on taxes.

Bucks’ nomination sailed through on Thursday, after clearing the Senate Taxation Committee 10-0 a day earlier.

Bucks drew widespread support at his confirmation hearing.

During the hearing Bucks was asked several times if the department targeted its critics for audits. He adamantly denied it, saying those decisions were made by the tax compliance staff, not his office.
