Tuesday Buffet: Skate Park, Rare Bird Sighting, Jury Duty

By Beacon Staff

Good morning; on the Beacon this morning, the Kalispell City Council voted to keep its helmet requirement at Woodland Skateboard Park. Scarff Auto Center in Kalispell will be losing its General Motors line of vehicles late next year. And rival parties vying for control of the bankrupt Yellowstone Club have reached a court-approved deal that gives Boston-based CrossHarbor Capital Partners ownership over the resort.

In other news, the developers of Signal Peak Mine south of Roundup are – fast and furiously – pouring resources into the state’s largest current construction project. A pair of Great Falls birdwatchers last weekend recorded what is believed to be only the third sighting of the summer tanager ever in Montana. And a 24-year-old Missoula man pleaded guilty on Monday to charges that he stabbed a University of Montana student at a house party last September during a dispute over the rules of a drinking game.

Finally, Stephen Colbert recently chose Erik Slye, of Belgrade, the “Alpha Dog of the Week.” Slye recently made waves by submitting a “vulgarity-laced affidavit” in response to Gallatin County’s request that he report for jury duty. Happy Tuesday, everyone.
