Kalispell Officers Kill Pit Bull After Attack

Kalispell Police officers shot and killed a pit bull Friday afternoon after the animal attacked a man and then charged police.

The Kalispell Police Department received a report of a man that had just been attacked by a pit bull at the Outlaw Inn in south Kalispell shortly after 1 p.m. Friday. According to a press release from the department, officers responded and found the victim lying down in the hotel’s parking lot with obvious injuries.

Officers surrounded the pit bull which was still in the area, attempting to contain it while paramedics were helping the victim and until a Flathead County Animal Warden could arrive. When the dog charged at one of the officers, two officers simultaneously shot at the dog, stopping its charge and fatally wounding the animal.

The victim was transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center by the Kalispell Fire Department. The case is still under investigation, according to the release.
