LIVINGSTON – A 15-year-old Livingston girl is charged with trying to poison her father by lacing Jell-O with lamp oil.
The girl, whose name hasn’t been released, was taken into custody on June 7 and was being held in a juvenile detention facility in Galen. The teen is scheduled to appear in Youth Court next month on the charge of attempted aggravated assault.
Court records say the mother of one of the girl’s friends overheard the girl telling her friend that she had prepared the Jell-O with lamp oil to try to kill her father. The woman called the 15-year-old’s parents to tell them what she heard.
The father told authorities that several days before his daughter offered him the Jell-O, the two had quarreled because he had revoked some of her privileges because she missed curfew.
Court records say the girl tried twice over a period of three days to get her father to eat the Jell-O. He declined both times, thinking her offer was suspicious.
